Summertime Can Be Fun & Productive

Although the kids have been out of school since June 18th, I notice I’m still adjusting to the summer schedule. Every year it takes me a couple weeks to adjust to a shorter work day, with the extra family responsibilities. I’ve learned to be deliberate in my actions so that I enjoy this time of year, rather than endure it.

A Parent’s Worst Nightmare

I asked my oldest son about his weekend. He asked, “do you promise not to freak out?” That made me curious. I asked again, “what did you do this weekend?” He said cavalierly, “Well, I was robbed at gunpoint Friday night.” His tone was so matter of fact, that I thought he had to be joking.

Will you find danger or opportunity on the road to discovering your purpose?

A few words of encouragement for another can be so powerful. Whether it is our children, significant other, or a total stranger, the right word at the right time can be the catalyst to propel someone forward in a new positive direction. Conversely, a discouraging word could have the opposite effect.

Fear of Loss

Have you ever worried about “backlash” from followers on twitter or subscribers to your enewsletters or blog, which would cause them to unsubscribe? I confess I recently had this irrational fear, and it was over something so ridiculous that if someone did unsubscribe then it was probably someone I didn’t have a relationship with, and there would be no real loss.
