The Beans and Rice Experiment: Day 1
I’ve accepted the challenge that was given to us at Church today. For one week, I will eat beans and rice at each meal to remind myself that most of the non-free world lives on this type of existence diet every day. At the end of one week, those of us who are participating in the experiment will donate what we would have spent eating out or what we saved by not buying our usual groceries this week. Check out my journey and daily recipes, and share your ideas and support for one week.
Which comes first, action or inspiration?
There are times when I am inspired by my actions, and other times when I am first inspired and then take action. I think we all need a healthy mix of action and inspiration in order to accomplish anything worthwhile. If we simply oooh and ahhh, but never do anything with what inspires us, the inspiration will eventually fade and be forgotten. Yet if we are constantly on the go trying to accomplish much, but never reflecting on what we’ve accomplished, or taking time out to rest, we’ll miss out on the opportunity to be inspired. Albert Einstein said, “imagination is more important than knowledge. Your imagination is your preview of life’s coming attractions.”
How it all began
I find myself “sharing my story” with others when we meet over coffee or lunch for the first time, or even on an initial business phone call. In this week’s blog, I’m sharing my story with all of you, in hopes that it inspires and guides someone to take action to discover their purpose and passion. If so, I hope you’ll share a little of “your story” with all of us.
