Ringing in the New Year

Are you someone who makes and/or breaks New Year’s Resolutions?  Or are you someone who doesn’t bother setting goals, just because it’s the end of one year and the beginning of another?  I tend to set goals throughout the year, without feeling the pressure to do it on a certain day.  I remember one year in my late 20’s deciding my New Year’s Resolution would be to program the radio stations in my car.   As lame as that sounds, I just felt like declaring something I was really going to do.  I did it by the way, but once I got a new car I was back in the same “unprogrammed” state of mind.   Anyone who rides in the car with me knows that my favorite station is “scan”. I figure I’ll land on something I like eventually!  

The rest of my life tends to be much more intentional and programmed than the radio stations in my car.  Whether you are someone who lets life happen, or someone who makes things happen, you know that change is inevitable.    Yet, there is something to be said for setting goals.

Whether you set goals or not, 2010 will end and 2011 will arrive.  I hope that you live the next year with intention and that you use your gifts, talents, and resources to make a difference in the lives of others.   Maya Angeliu says:  “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel”. 

As we ring in another New Year, I hope your 2011 is filled with purpose, passion, and abundance, so you can live life to the fullest and make a difference for others.
