Are you someone who makes and/or breaks New Year’s Resolutions? Or are you someone who doesn’t bother setting goals, just because it’s the end of one year and the beginning of another? I tend to set goals throughout the year, without feeling the pressure to do it on a certain day. I remember one year in my late 20’s deciding my New Year’s Resolution would be to program the radio stations in my car. As lame as that sounds, I just felt like declaring something I was really going to do. I did it by the way, but once I got a new car I was back in the same “unprogrammed” state of mind. Anyone who rides in the car with me knows that my favorite station is “scan”. I figure I’ll land on something I like eventually!
The rest of my life tends to be much more intentional and programmed than the radio stations in my car. Whether you are someone who lets life happen, or someone who makes things happen, you know that change is inevitable. Yet, there is something to be said for setting goals.
Goals are not only absolutely necessary to motivate us. They are essential to really keep us alive.
