This Privacy Policy explains how Your Legal Resource, PLLC (“Your Legal Resource”) collects your personal information when you use the BestLegalResource.com website or otherwise interact with us.

The Site is based in Michigan and our business is operated as a for-profit legal referral service in Michigan by a licensed Michigan Attorney. However, we do not charge clients or prospective clients for using this website, or for our legal referral services. Our business is intended to assist individuals and small businesses located in Michigan, who need help with Michigan legal issues. Therefore, if you reside outside Michigan, the data privacy laws in your state may not apply to your activities on this Site. Additionally, we may not be able to assist you with a legal referral and suggest you contact the State or local Bar Association(s) in your state/Country, if you reside outside of Michigan. We collect personal information that you provide directly to us. For example, we collect information if you:

  • Fill out the contact form on our website
  • Send us an email (with or without attachments)
  • Mail us information through the US postal mail, or other delivery service
  • Request information from us by phone
  • Communicate with us through our social media platforms, or otherwise online
  • Provide us with records or other information during a face-to-face meeting

The types of information you choose to provide to us may include:

  • Your name

  • Information you enter while filling out the contact form on our website

  • During our intake call with each client, we take notes so that we can better understand their legal needs prior to making any referrals.

1.  With other Attorneys who we are referring your legal matter to
, following our initial consultation with you.


Exceptions
:

  • If after our consultation we determine your legal matter is not a fit for one of the attorneys we work with, then we will not pass along any of your information to another attorney.

 

  • In some instances, we may run the facts of your legal matter by the Attorney we have in mind for you — but not actually refer you to them. This may occur if your legal matter is something we have not dealt with before and want to make sure the matter is a good fit for the attorney prior to referring you to them. If for some reason the Attorney declines to handle the matter or speak with you about it, we will let you know as soon as possible so you can make other arrangements for your legal matter. 


If one of the above exceptions occurs, we may instead refer you to Legal Aid, or the State Bar Association of Michigan, or other local bar association if that is more appropriate for your situation. 


2. If someone referred you to us, we may very briefly contact them to thank them 
for the referral, without divulging your confidential  information.


3. If we think we have to share information about you in order to comply with the law
, including responding to lawful court orders, subpoenas,  or warrants.


4. If we believe your actions violate the spirit or language of our Terms of Use, Privacy Policy,
or to protect the rights, property, and safety of  Your Legal Resource, its employees, or others.

In connection with, or during negotiations of, any reorganization, formation of a successor organization, asset sale or transfer, financing or lending transaction, or in any other situation where personal information may be disclosed or transferred as one of the assets of the Site

We usually suggest you list your name using your first name and initial of your last name at the end of your review or testimonial (ie. Jane D. for Jane Doe). We also ask that if you reference the attorney we referred you to that you just use their first name, or refer to them without naming them such as “the attorney you referred us to was a pleasure to work with…” If you provide us with a review or testimonial, you consent to us using it/posting it online or in a newsletter. We will honor any confidentiality requests you specify such as only showing a portion of your name, or including the name of your business if you want us to and we provided a referral to a business attorney for you. We also have the right not to publish a negative review/testimonial, or to refrain from using your review/testimonial for any other reason, at our discretion.

Any personal information you provide on such linked pages is provided directly to that third party and is subject to that third party’s privacy policy. However, note that we may retain certain information as required by law or for legitimate business purposes or legal requirements. We may also retain cached or archived copies of information about you for a certain period of time.

  • Kensington Community Church member and volunteer for 20+ years. Lori currently serves at the Birmingham campus at the HUB (the information center where she and the team welcome Church members and guests, answer questions, and point them to the events and resources for our campus and Church-wide activities). Lori previously served on the Hospitality Committee monthly by contributing to the meals for staff and volunteers at the Birmingham Campus 2017- 2020. She served on the leadership team of the Stephen Ministry/Crisis Care Team from 2012-2016. Lori served at the Welcome Center/Information Center (now known as The Hub) for the Birmingham Campus from 2008-2012. She also served as the Troy campus volunteer coordinator from 2005-2008.
  • Former Membership chair for the Women’s Bar Association (Oakland Region of the Women Lawyers Association of Michigan) for four years
  • Former Ambassador of the Birmingham Bloomfield Chamber of Commerce for 4 years, and member for 10 years. Lori received the Ambassador of the Year Award in 2011
  • Lori has mentored Women Law Students through the Women’s Bar Association, and earned the Mentor of the Year Award from the National Association of Career Women (NACW) in 2010 where she served as membership director for three years and helped build the board for the Greater Detroit Chapter
  • Former Ambassador for and member of The Collaborative Group for 3 years, which was an organization of thought leaders in different industries whose mission is to improve the greater Metro Detroit region through entrepreneurship and business development. The organization evolved into Challenge Detroit, which is still active today.
